Biography
Mr. Cosby has been practicing in criminal law for over forty years. He graduated from the T.C. Williams School of Law in 1977, and became a law clerk for the Virginia Supreme Court. After completing his tenure as a law clerk, he became an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Richmond and prosecuted criminal cases for four years.
He completed the career prosecutor's course at the University of Houston, in Houston, Texas. He received a letter of recommendation from Richmond's chief of police for a particularly difficult prosecution that he handled successfully. Mr. Cosby resigned as a prosecutor in 1982 to begin his practice of law in criminal defense.
Since entering private practice, Charles C. Cosby, Jr. has defended many publicized trials involving murder, embezzlement, sex offenses, drug distribution, and other serious types of cases. He has appeared as a guest speaker at the Virginia State Police Training Academy, the City of Richmond Police Department Training facility, and the Top Gun program at the College of William and Mary where drug prosecutors and investigators obtain training.
